The Perceptions of Secondary School Teachers and Students in Jordan Toward the Effectiveness of Online Distance Learning During Corona Virus Pandemic

Abstract
The study evaluatesthe effectiveness of online distance learning during Corona virus Pandemic. The study sample consisted of (120) male and female teachers and (568) male and female students in the Southern Almazar directorate of education. A stratifiedrandom sample was employed to choose the study sample. A self-completed questionnaire was employed as the study instrument, which was used in two different versions; the first was designed to investigate teachers' perspectives, while the second was to investigate students' perspectives. The reliability and validity of both versions were verified. The study results showed that teachers evaluated the effectiveness of online distance learning with a moderate degree, whereas, students evaluated it witha high degree of effectiveness. The study results revealed that there was a statistically significant difference at (α ≤ 0.05), which was attributed to the variable of gender and in favor of females. The results also revealed that there were no statistically significant differences attributed to the variable of experience or the interaction between gender and experience. Furthermore, the results revealed that there was a statistically significant difference at (α ≤ 0.05)when evaluating the effectiveness of onlinedistance learning from students’perspective, whichcould beattributed to the variable of gender and in favor of females.The study conclude with several recommendations, among which isthe necessity to tackle the problemsteachers encounterwhile dealing with distance learning programs.
